Polysics are so amazing, I wish I could have stayed the whole concert but they started so damn late. First time at the Knitting Factory as well, it was an awesome experience to be in a club like that.

Shadow of the (adorable) Colossus
March 29, 2006Shadow of the (adorable) Colossus:
What kind of person would take an
adorable Flickr image of an adorable puppy, quizzically
tilting his adorable head, and photoshop him into a giant colossus from Ueda’s beautiful Shadow of the Colossus? A genius, that’s who!The
colossi are tragic characters; slaying each one results in a sort of post-coital depression, the totality of your deed
laid before you. From now on, with every reflection on the game and its tragic colossi, I will only see puppies.
Adorable, fluffy puppies.Brilliant.

Disneyland footage from 1956
March 29, 2006Disneyland footage from 1956:
Cory Doctorow:
This ten minute mini-documentary showcases footage shot in Disneyland around 1956, a year after the park opened. It’s lovely stuff — just the colors are wild!
(via The Disney Blog)
Update: Kirby sez, “This is an excerpt from the same Disneyland U.S.A. film that was listed on BB last year. Although the file is gone from the original location in that post, a torrent is still available. Quality is much better. Also there was a Jim Hill article about the film. I really wish Leonard Maltin would put this film in a Disneyland pt. 2 collection.”
As Cory said, the colors are just mind-blowing.

The Pirate Bay: Here to Stay?
March 29, 2006The Pirate Bay: Here to Stay?:
The entertainment industry claims it has file-sharing sites on the run. But Sweden-based torrent tracker The Pirate Bay says it isn’t going anywhere. And there’s a national movement behind the site. By Ann Harrison.
It damn well better be, I can’t live without it.

Will Wright gives video demo of Maxis’ upcoming Spore game
March 29, 2006Will Wright gives video demo of Maxis’ upcoming Spore game:
Mark Frauenfelder:
Here’s a 35-minute video presentation of Maxis’ upcoming Spore video game. It’s mind blowingly cool. Like Maxis’s earlier games, it’s about evolution and survival. The world of Spore is populated with creatures created by other players, which the game selects to keep your ecosystem balanced.
Spore’s creature editor, says Wright, is “a mixture of Mr Potato Head, an Erector Set, and Clay.”
(Reader Comment) Brian says: “The unabridged version of Will Wright’s talk is here.”
A revolution in gaming, in my opinion.

Lost 1975 Monty Python interview
March 29, 2006Lost 1975 Monty Python interview:
Cory Doctorow:
This 1975 interview with Monty Python at a Dallas PBS affiliate hasn’t been aired in over 30 years:
This interview footage first aired live on KERA that year, and hasn’t been seen by the public since. It was discovered on an old reel that had been saved by an engineer, and as you can see, it cuts off after about 14 minutes… the engineer taped over the rest. It’s a look at the group being candidly questioned by fans at the peak of their fame and creative powers.
